Cu africanii sunt relativ de acord. Banii ajuta mai mult in Africa decat aici. N-am vrut sa intru intr-o discutie cu Baluba pe tema asta.

Relativ, pentru ca majoritatea homelesilor nu sunt "oameni care nu vor sa dea cu sapa".
Cifrele vorbeste.
Intre o treime si jumatate sunt dusi cu pluta si trebuie ajutati ca orice om bolnav. Majoritatea homelesilor sunt homelesi pe termen scurt - au avut o belea, nu au bani de chirie deci sunt homelesi. Vai de mama lor. Au nevoie de o mana de ajutor sa-si gaseasca un job, nu de o lopata in cap ca fac scandal.

Ajutorul cel mai eficace nu e neaparat cu bani.

Daca te-au dat afara din casa si dormi afara (si afara sunt -20) faptul ca au primit cererea ta si timpul de asteptare este de 90 de zile nu ajuta foarte tare. Ai nevoie de un acoperis *acuma*. Si s-ar putea ca intr-o luna sa-ti gasesti de lucru si sa-ti reincepi viata.
Daca ai 18 ani si te-ai certat cu parintii (posibil pentru ca ambele parti au probleme la mansarda) ai nevoie de cineva care sa te indrume, nu neaparat de bani.
Daca ai 35 de ani, barbat in putere si nu ai avut in viata ta un job ai nevoie de un counsellor. Care sa-ti futa doua palme si sa te trimita sa-ti cauti de lucru. (Dar cazurile de barbati in putere, far probleme la mansarda si care nu muncesc sunt rare. Mult mai rare decat crede majoritatea).

Trimisul de bani e cam ultima solutie, pentru ca, cu cat stai mai mult pe bara, cu atat e mai greu sa-ti revii. Trebuie batut fierul cat e cald si ajutat omul sa-si revina, nu intretinuti oamenii asa, intre viata si moarte, cu $500 pe luna.

... dar pentru asta trebuie bani si investitii in social workers etc. E greu sa fii un social worker eficace. E un skill la fel de rar ca al inginerilor de prima mana.

ROME -- An Italian man with extreme right-wing views opened fire in an outdoor market in Florence Tuesday, killing two vendors from Senegal, then critically wounded three other Senegalese immigrants in another Florence market before killing himself, authorities said.
