Apotex
« on: Saturday 16 December 2017, 05:35:20 »

Un agent imobiliar a descoperit corpurile in subsol in timp ce se pregatea sa deschida casa pentru o vizionare.

Sherman, in varsta de 75 de ani, a infiintat Apotex in 1974. A demisionat in functia de director executiv in 2012, dar a ramas presedinte executiv.

Teva, the struggling Israeli drugmaker, said it would cut 14,000 jobs even after the national trade union body called a general strike and threatened “total war” to stop the plans.

The pharmaceuticals group did not say where it would make the cuts, equivalent to 25 per cent of its global workforce, although unions fear the company’s roughly 7,000 Israeli workers will bear the brunt of job losses.

As well as announcing plans to close a “significant number” of factories and research centres, the company said it would suspend its dividend and sell off assets as it seeks to cut its $16bn of annual costs by $3bn before the end of 2019.

“We are launching a comprehensive restructuring plan, crucial to restoring our financial security and stabilising our business,” said Kåre Schultz, Teva’s recently-appointed chief executive.

He added: “We are taking immediate and decisive actions to reduce our cost base across our global business and become a more efficient and profitable company.”

Teva is groaning under $35bn of debt, much of it taken on to fund the ill-fated acquisition of Allergan’s generics business, which closed shortly before the price of copycat medicines started to crumble.

Only days before he died, Toronto billionaire Barry Sherman was attempting to quash an investigation into a political fundraiser he held for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau that allegedly ran afoul of lobbying rules.

Sherman, who was found dead along with his wife, Honey, at their house on Friday, had been under investigation by lobbying commissioner Karen Shepherd since October 2016, and was facing a possible five-year ban from lobbying because of the fundraiser he hosted during the last federal election.

The lobbyists’ code of conduct prohibits registered lobbyists, such as Sherman, from lobbying office holders they helped get elected.

Last May, Sherman filed a lawsuit in Federal Court to block the lobbying commissioner’s probe into him and his pharmaceutical company Apotex because it had been “taken and pursued in bad faith and/or for an improper purpose.”

tot au ramas multi miliardari ! uite in link pe miliardarii nostri canadieni.

http://www.hyperactivz.com/richest-canadians-make-fortunes

There are about 7,000 billionaires (almost 2,000 listed in Forbes, I’m assuming most aren’t on the list).
And there are about 7 billion people on planet earth.
7 billion / 7,000 = 1 million.
That means that to become a billionaire you need to be one in a million.
Now, I’m going to assume that to become a billionaire you need to start a business (5% of people do), work your butt off (5% of people will do so for 10+ years), be in the top 20% of the population in terms of intelligence, and be born in the top 20% of the world in terms of privilege. If you can tick those four boxes your chances are around 1 in 100.Pretty damn high…

Forensic investigators are now combing through sewers looking for clues into the deaths of a billionaire Canadian couple "out of an abundance of caution," a source close to the investigation has told CBC Toronto.

Apotex founder, Barry Sherman, 75, and his wife Honey, 70, were found dead in their North York home on Dec 15.

Investigators could be seen working with city employees on Sunday to open up sewer grates near the house.

They used a hydro-excavator as "a large vacuum" and a magnet to locate any "suspicious metals," a source said. They then took the gathered contents to a work yard and combed through the material, looking for anything that could be considered as evidence.

The team plans to comb through more sewers near the Sherman's mansion on 50 Old Colony Road, near Bayview and the 401 as soon as they can coordinate the operation with the city.

The forensics team were assisting homicide detectives who have officially taken the lead in the case although it remains a "suspicious death investigation," rather than a homicide. Post-mortem examinations have revealed that both Shermans died from "ligature neck compressions," meaning strangulation.

Police have remained tight-lipped about details of the investigations but a detective with the Toronto homicide squad, Brandon Price, previously said investigators found no signs of forced entry into the couple's house, and police were not "currently seeking or looking for an outstanding suspect."
