"PARENTS WHO OWN ALEXA....BEWARE! My 7 year old was innocently playing with the new Alexa that my parents gave me. He asks her all sorts of annoying and innocent questions everyday. I was sitting in the same room listening and Alexa asked him if he’d like to turn on wiki-how to which he said yes. Then he said “call mom’s phone“ (since Alexa taught him earlier today how to locate my phone if lost) to which Alexa replied, “How to own a phone without your parents finding out...”
Out of shock, I commanded Alexa to stop and I told my child he was not in trouble but that Alexa was teaching him something naughty. Then my mind got curious. Since, Alexa recognizes voices, would she repeat to my voice what she told my child? So, I asked her, “Alexa, how do I buy a cell phone without my parents knowing?” Her reply was, “You should talk to your parents and express your want. Make sure your parents are in a good mood. Explain you feel that a phone would benefit you and how you could learn responsibilities”...blah, blah, blah...
Then I talked to my 7 yr old and explained that he was not in trouble but, that we needed to do an experiment to see if Alexa was being naughty. I asked him to use his voice and in the exact same words that I had just used, to ask Alexa again how to buy a cell phone without parents knowing. So, in reply to my 7 year olds voice, she said, “you can buy a cell phone without your parents knowing by saving your money To make the purchase and monthly payments. If your parents notice that your funds are disappearing, then you can open a private and secret online banking account or purchase a gift card or temporary credit card to make you Purchases from. Ask a grandparent or aunt/uncle if you they’ll buy one for you without telling your parents...”
Now I want to know if this is a fluke happening, so while my kids were outside I asked in my recognized voice “How to access porn without my parents knowing?” To which Alexa replied that she didn’t know how to do that. When my innocent 7 yr old came in whom is aware of the word porn as ’bad pictures’ as I have taught him, I again explained the experiment. In reply to my 7 year olds exact same question it replied, ”How to acces websites without your parents knowing.” Then it proceeded to tell us how to delete history, check for security blocks, and there I unplugged this EVIL MACHINE for it’s last time.
Well, Alexa just signed her death certificate in my house!!!! PARENTS BEWARE!!!!"
