Snowfall warning for
Estrie continued
Amount of snow of 15 and 40 cm is expected Sunday over these regions.
A severe low pressure system crossing the Mississippi Valley is
moving northeastward as intensifying. This winter storm will move to
lie over New England Sunday and continue toward the Gaspésie area
Monday.
Snow will begin Sunday morning over southwestern Québec and will
propagate eastward during the day to reach the Gaspésie area in the
evening and the far eastern Québec in the night. The snow will be
combined with brisk northeastern winds that wil cause blowing snow.
These winds will be severe east of Québec city.
Snow will amount to 15 to 20 cm over the districts between the
Pontiac area and the Saguenay and Sept-Îles. However, near the
St Lawrence river, the accumulations will be more important, reaching 20
to 40 cm. The total could even be higher in some elevated areas like
Charlevoix. Finally, areas on the border of Maine and New Brunswick
will have a somewhat period of ice pellets that will slightly reduce
the accumulations.
