Canada's construction industry
« on: Tuesday 20 December 2005, 02:53:59 »
Canada's construction industry, facing shortages of new workers as older ones retire, has erected a new job site - online at www.careersinconstruction.ca

It's aimed at providing students and school counsellors with information on construction careers, and offers real-time information about job prospects in every province.

The site, financially supported by the federal government, also features job descriptions, virtual tours of construction sites, video clips and interviews with workers, along with information on training requirements.

"Where the jobs are, what the work is like, how to choose a career path, enter an apprenticeship program, earn while you learn - it's all there," says Rosemary Sparks, director of projects at the Construction Sector Council.

"And if it isn't, there are more than 600 links to other resources."
